Welcome to Rewriting Ivy

One of my favorite poems is “The Road Not Taken” by Robert Frost—you know the one that ends:

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood,
and I—I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

My problem: it seems every path I’ve chosen—so far—ends up with a fallen sequoia across it and I never have a chainsaw. Or a hand saw. Or even a Swiss Army Knife with the tiny sawblade. And don’t even get me started on having the energy to just climb over the damn thing.

That’s why I’ve started Rewriting Ivy. It’s my version of Grimm’s Fairy Tales, from the gruesome to the glorious.

Stories about how I’m discovering the right tools to make my way through this second act of life.

Be it with food, exercise, stress inducing goat wrangling, or just breathing (while trying to avoid inhalation of the incessant no-see-ums) on my porch, Rewriting Ivy is my blog (and a soon-to-launch podcast co-hosted by my equally busy daughter, assuming we can ever agree on the same scheduling app) about trying to stay healthy while also being a human of a certain age.

You are in the right place if:

  • You feel like you’re fighting time, gravity, neural pathways, and Mother Nature herself.

  • Screaming out loud in public—at everything—isn’t an option.

  • Drinking eight glasses of water a day makes you pee 97 times.

  • Brain fog and mood swings make you feel like you’re gaslighting yourself.

  • You’ve started 100 things and haven’t finished one of them yet.

  • Some days, it takes every spoon in your drawer just to get out of bed.

  • And you immediately got the spoon drawer reference.

…Or if you want to read about:

  • Cringe-worthy public epiphanies

  • Easy-ish primal recipes

  • Squirrel-brain reflections, ferret-level chaos, and other critter crises

Plus, if you're into podcasts about nothing and everything (like Seinfeld, but without the weird dancing), I invite you to subscribe to this goat-filled chaos.

And who am I kidding—there’s GOING to be weird dancing.

Welcome to my yellow wood. Keep your chainsaws sharp and gassed up. If you don’t have yours yet, don’t worry. I’ve got you.
